Protests Held in Berlin Against Coronavirus Curbs

15,000 Protesters in Berlin throng roads against the curbs imposed in Germany to stop the spread of coronavirus. Protesters say these curbs violate their rights and freedom. The protesters included libertarians, constitutional loyalists, and skeptics of the science behind policies to fight the pandemic. There was also a small far-right presence with some marchers carrying Germany's imperial flag. During this protest, some danced and sang, “We are free people” to the tune of the rock band Queen's 'We Will Rock You'. Afghan Peace Talks Process Underway between US and Taliban

A video meet on Monday was held between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and negotiator of Taliban’s chief, Mullah Baradar Akhund where they discussed the peace process in Afghanistan, according to an insurgent spokesman. Taking this to Twitter, Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban spokesman in Doha said, “The discussions included the issue of Taliban prisoners whose release by the Afghan government the insurgents are demanding.” According to the Taliban, they want their people who are imprisoned to be free if they want the settlement of the war for decades before joining talks with any government official and Afghans. All Religious Places of Worship to be Opened in Jammu Kashmir from August 16

Principal secretary J&K, Rohit Kansal in a tweet today said that the Jammu Kashmir Government has taken a major decision to allow all religious places of worship to be opened in Jammu Kashmir from August 16, 2020. However, religious processions and large religious gatherings remain strictly prohibited. It is pertinent to mention here that on Eid-ul-Adha, Eid namaz was offered in masjids. Mass congregational prayers were not allowed due to the global Pandemic, COVID-19. The Divisional  Commissioner Kashmir PC Pole has said that there has been a spike in coronavirus cases in Srinagar due to relaxations during festivals and SOP violations. Therefore strict restrictions have again been imposed on movement and gatherings in Srinagar.

Car Accident in Pampore Kills Teenager, Injures Two

A teenager was killed and two other, seriously injured after they were hit by a speeding car at Saffron town Pampore on Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Nazila Jan daughter of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat resident of Tulbagh Pampore. The Injured girls identified as Natika daughter of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat Tabin Nazir daughter of Nazir Ahmad Pandit residents of Tulbagh Pampore. SHO Pampore Manzoor Ahmad said that the accident took place after a speedy car hit the girls in the saffron fields on Pampore -Khrew road near Tulbagh. “The vehicle an Alto car bearing registration number JK13F-0346 hit the girls,” said police adding that a case FIR 57/2020 under section 279, 337, 427 IPC registered at police station Pampore. Suspected Militants Attack Police Party SOG in Pulwama

Suspected militants attacked a Police party in south Kashmir’s Wanpora area of Pulwama district. The suspected militants hurled a grenade on Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Kakpora Police Party. Two police personnel, identified as HC Khurshid Ahmad and SPO Ishfaq Ahmad have suffered splinter injuries. The injured have been rushed to the hospital for treatment. The Area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

BJP Sarpanch Shot by Suspected Militants in Kulgam

A Sarpanch was shot by suspected militants on  Tuesday evening in Kulgam District. According to the sources, Asif Ahmad from Akhran, Mir Bazar, Kulgam was shot at by suspected militants. The injured Sarpanch was taken to hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. It’s important to mention here that the sarpanchs have become an easy target for such attacks. Recently, a pandit Sarpanch, Ajay Pandita also lost his life in an attack.

Man injured in bear attack at Damhal Hanji Pora, Kulgam.

A 25 year old man, Mushtaq Ahmad Gorsi son of Mohd Abdullah Gorsi was injured in a bear attack.  Mushtaq Ahmad Gorsi is resident of Yarikha- DH Pora, Kulgam.   He was mauled and injured by the bear and ended up with lacerations and tear in his upper right limb and around his right eye. The injured was shifted to District Hospital, Kulgam for treatment and is now stable.

Class 9th Girl Commits Suicide in Islamabad District

A girl committed suicide in Shergund, in the Uttersoo area of Islamabad (Anantanag) district on Tuesday evening. The cause has not been identified so far. The SHO of Uttersoo confirmed the death of the girl saying, “The girl (name withheld) was a minor, a 9th class student and was a resident of Shergund area”. Further adding, the SHO said, “the reason of this drastic step is not known yet, the investigation has been initiated”.

PDP leader Rouf Bhat has been detained by J&K Police today because the party decided to organize peaceful protests on 5th August, the first anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, & observe it as a 'black day', Iltija mufti tweeted and said this is "Naya Kashmir". As 5th August nears, Kashmir will soon be completing a year of the revocation of its special status.
