According to the data of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India recorded 77,266 fresh new cases of coronavirus with more than 1,057 deaths in the last 24 hours, the accumulative death toll reached 61,529. Members of the Muslim community helped in performing the last rites of their Hindu neighbour in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday afternoon. As soon as the news of the death of 103-year-old Uma Devi spread, Muslim neighbours from Pargochi village came together to help in performing her last rites. Amid rains and massive thunderstorm, locals arranged firewood and other necessary things for her last rites. Mir Irfan A dead body was recovered by police from an orchard in Dangam area of Shopain district on Friday morning. An official told The Kashmiriyat that the dead body was identified to be that of a missing Panch from Khonmoh area. He has been identified the Panch as Nisar Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Khonmoh area. The family had lodged a missing report with Jammu Kashmir police. They had alleged that Bhat left for Shopian on August 19 and had been missing since then.

Shabir Khan A 48-year-old man was killed after being hit by a speedy car at Lalad area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday morning a speedy vehicle bearing registration number JK15A-3006 hit a pedestrian resulting in his on spot death. The Police officials identified the deceased as Abdul Rashid Ganaie, son of Late Muhammad Sultan Ganaie, who was a resident of of Lalad area in Sopore. Salman Shah The Administrative Council (AC) that conducted a meeting recently under the Chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, accorded and sanctioned the proposal of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department to shift one of the four Fast Track Special Court for POCSO to Ramban, Jammu Kashmir. Earlier, two courts were to be established, one each at Srinagar and Jammu, to exclusively deal with the cases related to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Later on, two more courts at Kulgam and Reasi were approved to be established exclusively for women related offences. Till the construction of school infrastructure gets completed, alternate arrangements for housing the JNV are being carried out.
