The death of a 23-year old youth a day after his arrest by police in Sopore area of Baramulla district is another glaring example of how the rule of law is being violated with impunity in Kashmir, the Communist party of India Marxist (CPIM) has said. In a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, the CPIM has said that the police version about the killing of the youth is a concocted story which nobody trusts in Kashmir. China ‘Illegally occupies around 38,000 square km land’ in Ladakh, says Rajnath Singh

On the fourth day of Monsoon session of Parliament of India, the Defence Minister of India on Thursday Rajnath Singh told the Rajya Sabha that China continues to illegally occupy approximately 38,000 square kilometres of land in Ladakh. “China continues to be in illegal occupation of approximately 38,000 sq kms in the Union Territory of Ladakh,” Singh said. “In addition, under the so-called Sino-Pakistan ‘Boundary Agreement’ of 1963, Pakistan illegally ceded 5,180 sq km of Indian territory in PoK [Pakistan-occupied Kashmir] to China. China also claims approximately 90,000 sq kms of Indian territory in the Eastern Sector of the India-China boundary in Arunachal Pradesh,” he added. (FPK)

14 year Old Girl Commits Suicide in Anantnag

Waris Shah A 14-year-old Girl Allegedly Committed Suicide by hanging herself inside her home in Khiram area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir on Thursday evening. An official told, that she was shifted to nearby hospital where doctors declared that she was brought dead. After the completion of medical and legal formalities, the body will be handed over to family members for last rites, the official added. A police officer also confirmed the incident, adding that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard and further investigation has been taken up.

Forces bust hideout in Awantipora

Government forces on Thursday busted a hideout in Awanpora area of Awantipora in which incriminating material was recovered. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that during cordon and search operation by joint team of forces including 42 RR, 130 bn CRPF and Awanpora police, a suspicious point was spotted. He said that immediately BDS squad was called in and after digging at the suspected spot a 250 litres Syntax was found. Turkey and Russia in their latest meeting in Ankara have decided on the agreement of ceasefire and political processes in Libya, according to the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusolgu in a broadcast interview. Both sides held this week a new round of talks on developments in Syria and Libya, which was expected to end on Wednesday. The Government of National Accord (GNA) last month declared a ceasefire in Libya and called for  upliftment of blockades on oil facilities.
