Gunfire along LoC in Poonch Sector

On Wednesday, the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector of Jammu division. In an official statement issued to The Kashmiriyat, the officials said that in Qasba, Kirni and other areas of Poonch sector, Pakistan Army violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling on Wednesday evening. “Pak Army used both small arms and mortars to target the area and Indian Army is retaliating befittingly”, Army officials said.

Government Bans PUBG, 117 Other Mobile Applications

The Information and Technology Ministry of the Indian Government on Wednesday banned the hugely popular gaming app PUBG Mobile. 117 other mobile applications including Nordic Map, Livik, PUBG MOBILE LITE, WeChat Work & WeChat reading are among the banned mobile apps. In July, the government had banned 47 apps, which were clones or variants of Chinese-linked 59 apps earlier banned in June.

The Cabinet on Wednesday approved Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill, 2020, said Union Minister Prakash Javadekar. “Urdu, Kashmiri, Dogri, Hindi and English to be official languages in Jammu and Kashmir under the new Bill approved by the Cabinet, said Javadekar. Javadekar said that the Union Cabinet has also approved Mission Karmayogi for bringing post-recruitment reforms in the government.

10,281 farmers committed suicide in 2019: NCRB

According to the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data on accidental deaths and suicides, 10,281 farmers committed suicide in 2019, slightly less than 2018 where 10,357 farmers committed suicide. The figure for daily wagers went up to 32,559 in 2019 from 30,132 in 2018. Telangana recorded the fourth-highest number of farmer suicides in India 2019 as per the report by NCRB. Around 2,858 daily-wage workers died by suicide in Telangana in 2019. So far, Maharashtra recorded the highest number of farmer suicide with 2,680 deaths, followed by Karnataka (1,331). CRPF Officer Commits Suicide In Doda District, Shoots Self With Service Rifle

Mubashir Naik An ASI ranked officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu Kashmir on Wednesday morning. Identified as Amrit Bhardwaj, 52, the deceased man is a native of Bharlipur in Naogaun district in Assam. He was an officer of the 33 Battalion. It is said that he went to the bed after returning to Battalion headquarters at Kotli from his night shift and allegedly fired upon himself four times. “He was taken to sub-district hospital in Bhadarwah, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
