Indian Soldier Killed in China Border Clash

Amid the latest border confrontation between India-China on the southern bank of Pangong Tso, across the Line of Actual Control (LAC), an Indian soldier of Tibetan origin has reportedly been killed, according to AFP news agency's talk with Namgyal Dolkar Lhagyari, a member of the Tibetan parliament in exile. Although, neither India nor China has admitted to casualties. On Tuesday, Namgyal Dolkar Lhagyari informed AFP news agency about a Tibetan-origin soldier being "martyred during the clash" on Saturday night. However, she did not identify the soldier by name. 8664 persons lodged in JK jails in 2019

An official report has revealed that 8664 persons were admitted in jails of Jammu & Kashmir during 2019. The report- Prison Statistics of India, 2019- unveiled by the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) lays bare that 8664 persons were admitted in jails of J&K UT during last year. The NCRB comes under administrative control of Ministry of Home Affairs. J&K has 15 jails, of which two are central jails, 10 district jails, two sub-jails and one special jail. According to the data, as on 31.12.2019, available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), 3689 inmates were lodged in J&K jails against the overall capacity of 2910. Jammu Kashmir added 525 cases on Tuesday, taking the total caseload to 38,223, including 241 in Jammu division and 284 in Kashmir division, health officials said. In all, 14 more Covid-19 deaths were reported, pushing the overall fatalities in Jammu Kashmir to 717. 29,484 patients have completely recovered. The the number of active cases is now 8,022 in JK out of which 2,318 are from Jammu division and 5,704 from Kashmir division.

The Jammu Kashmir administration on Tuesday said that 12.5 lakh domicile certificates have been issued so far, with over 99 percent being erstwhile PRC holders.
