‘Militants Facing weapon shortage in South Kashmir’

The army on Tuesday said that Pakistan has adopted a new trend to drop arms and ammunition close to the line of control (LoC) to fuel militancy in the valley but the same has been blocked by the security agencies jointly. Addressing a press conference, General officer Commanding (GOC) of 19 Infantry division, Baramulla, Major General Varinder Vats said that Pakistan is frustrated due to blockade of infiltration and cooperation between the security agencies had forced it to push more advanced weapons into the valley. “But the halt in supply chain has left militants high and dry. Covid 19- Jammu Kashmir’s tally breaches 38K mark; Death toll mounts to 717

Jammu Kashmir added 525 cases on Tuesday, taking the total caseload to 38,223, including 241 in Jammu division and 284 in Kashmir division, health officials said. In all, 14 more Covid-19 deaths were reported, pushing the overall fatalities in Jammu Kashmir to 717. 29,484 patients have completely recovered. The the number of active cases is now 8,022 in JK out of which 2,318 are from Jammu division and 5,704 from Kashmir division.

The Jammu Kashmir administration on Tuesday said that 12.5 lakh domicile certificates have been issued so far, with over 99 percent being erstwhile PRC holders. The Jammu Kashmir administration on Tuesday withdrew the additional excise duty of 50% levied on liquor after the outbreak of Covid - 19 as a new excise policy for the remainder of 2020 - 2021 financial year came into force , a senior government officer said. Excise Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan said the new policy for the first time provides for reservation of 12% to six categories of people, including ex-servicemen, those belonging weaker sections and unemployed youths, in opening bars and restaurants at tourist destinations across Jammu Kashmir. For the first time, a female IPS officer has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of Srinagar Sector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), one of the areas affected by terrorism in Jammu Kashmir. Charu Sinha, IPS officer of the 1996-batch of Telangana cadre, will now be heading the Srinagar sector for CRPF as the IG. This is not the first time when Sinha has been assigned with a tough task.
