Massive Fire Breaks out in Bandipora Forests

A massive forest fire broke out at Yaali forests in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday morning while the authorities are putting efforts to douse the flames. Eyewitnesses told that the wild fire broke out in several compartments in Yalli forests of Khuihama range along the Bandipora-Gurez road, turning ‘green gold’ into ashes. However, the authorities have so far failed to bring the situation under control, resulting in engulfing of fire to other forest areas, the locals said. An official from forest department said that the officials along with the locals are on job to douse the flames, adding that the fire service along with SDRF, forest officials and volunteers are trying their best to control the fire spread in the forests of Bandipora—(KNO)

Around 125 Local Militants not Handed Over to Families for Funerals, Report

Around 125 local Militants killed during the anti-Militant operations were buried in far-flung areas from their homes this year so far in Jammu Kashmir. A total of 171 Militants were killed in the hinterland in the valley till October 10 this year. In April this year, the state administration had taken a decision to carry out the burial of killed local Militants in areas far from their hometowns to help the security establishment in maintaining law and order in the valley. The administration has also decided that they won't hand over bodies to family members in order to stop pro-Freedom gatherings.
