Shabir Khan Three houses were damaged in a devastating fire incident on Wednesday evening at Neharpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Locals from the Neharpora area told The Kashmiriyat that a massive fire broke out in the residential house of one Ghulam Nabi Shah, which later spread to two nearby houses. The nearby residential houses of Abdul Majeed Shah and Riyaz Ahmed Shah caught fire which spread from the first house. Three Families were rendered homeless as their houses turned into ash. They further stated that two more residential houses belonging to Ali Muhammad Shah and Bashir Ahmad Shah got partially damaged in the blaze. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that an inspection team visited the area to take a stock of the loss.

The Former chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir and president of People's Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said that the PDP office in Srinagar was sealed for organizing a protest against the new land law in Jammu Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti claimed that PDP workers were also arrested on the behest of Jammu Kashmir administration on Thursday morning. Taking to her twitter, Mehbooba Mufti wrote, "PDP office in Srinagar sealed by J&K admin & workers arrested for organising a peaceful protest. In a continuation of raids, The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday morning conducted fresh raids in Bagh- e- mehtab and Nowgam areas of Srinagar. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that NIA sleuths, along with Government Forces CRPF and police, raided the house of Hurriyat activists at Bagh-e-mehtab and Falah Aam Trust at Nowgam area of Srinagar district. The search was going on, when this report was being filed. Pertinenly, Raids were also conducted by NIA at many places in Srinagar on Wednesday morning at several locations across Srinagar.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday lashed out at the central Government for its "double standards" on property ownership rights of citizens in various parts India. In a press release, the SAD Senior Vice-President Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema came down heavily against the contradiction in allowing property ownership rights to outsiders in Jammu Kashmir and yet denying it to "farmers from Punjab in Gujarat and Rajasthan". Rayees Shah/ Shah Basit The residents of Checki Prang area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Tuesday, held a protest against the water scarcity in their area and blocked the traffic on the Srinagar-Leh highway. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that a large number of people including men, women and children, assembled near Barwullah area of Kangan and blocked the traffic, resulting in traffic getting stranded on the road. Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Wednesday said his party rejects the new land laws notified by the Centre for the Union territory. "The new land law is another gift of BJP to people of J&K. The Congress party rejects the new land laws and vows to fight for protection of rights," Mir said addressing a public gathering in Gurez area of Bandipora district.
