Locals from Trenz told The Kashmiriyat that four residential structures were damaged in a massive fire that broke out in the area on Friday morning. The locals of the area and the Fire department brought the fire under control, however not before the fire had damaged four structures and left four families exposed to bare skies. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that the houses of Ghulam Ahmed Dar, Wali Mohammed Dar, Mohammed Ismail Dar, and Showkat Ahmed Dar were damaged in the massive fire. Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) in a statement has said that it "regretted" the continued denial of government advertisements to Srinagar-based newspaper- Kashmir reader. "The newspaper has never been informed either verbally or in black and white about the reasons for a halt to the advertisements by the government," the statement read. The issue was brought to the notice of the administration many times at different levels and it was expected that the decision-makers take a view of the issue, but to no avail, the guild lamented. The guild urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s to look into the issue so that the newspaper is prevented from being shut down.

Of the 163 MLA-elects, 123 (51 per cent of total affidavits analysed) have serious criminal cases pending against them, including those related to murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and crimes against women. In the 2015 Assembly elections, 142 (58 per cent) MLAs had self-declared such cases against them in their affidavits. This time, the ADR had analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 241 of the 243 victorious candidates. The ADR did not say anything on such details of remaining winners.
