Woman Killed by ‘Mentally Challenged’ Person in Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed A woman was killed by a mentally retarted person in the Shurat area of Kulgam in South Kashmir on Tuesday. An official told The Kashmiriyat that 35-year-old woman Mehmooda Akhtar wife of Muzaffar Ahmed Najar, a resident of Shurat area in Kulgam was hit by Ashfaq Ahmed Bohro, who is mentally ill, with a stick. The woman was critically wounded and fell down unconscious at the spot after which she was rushed to the District hospital in Kulgam/ Upon her arrival, the Doctors in District Hospital Kulgam declared her brought dead. The official added that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law in this regard

Skinder Gull Two Militants were killed during an encounter that raged in the Kutpora area of Shopian in South Kashmir on Tuesday morning. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 34 Rashtriya Rifles, 178 Battalion of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police had following specific input about Militant presence in the Kutpora area launched a search operation there. Police in Kulgam have arrested two bootleggers and recovered 32 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession, The police said. As per an official communique issued to The Kashmiriyat Officers at a checkpoint established at town Kulgam intercepted one vehicle Santro Car bearing registration number CH03Q-4570 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Rameez Afzal Ganie resident of Kulgam and Javaid Ahmad Lone resident of Pahloo. During the search, officers were able to recover 32 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kulgam where they remain in custody.
