The Jammu Kashmir Police claimed to have made a major breakthrough in the murder case of renowened Human Rights lawyer, Syed Babar Qadri and said the order to assassinate the lawyer came from the Central Jail of Srinagar. Earlier, the Jammu Kashmir Police had arrested three persons in the case, who as per the Police, said that the order for his assassination September 24 came from 'central jail, Srinagar.' Suspected militants Thursday hurled a grenade at a party of Central Reserve Police Force Sheikh Mohallah in Bijehara town of South Kashmir’s Anatanag district. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF Party in the Bibehara town, during which one CRPF man was injured, The CRPF man has been shifted to the hospital for treatment, adding that the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. Encounter in Anantnag, one Local Militant Arrested

An encounter has started between militants and Government forces at Gund Baba Khaleel locality of Sangam area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag District early on Thursday. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday night RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in this Anantnag area. The cordon continued for nearly two to three hours, during which the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. One Militant was arrested from the site of gunfight in an injured condition. The Militant who has been identified as Zaheer Abbas of Pulwama has been shifted to the hospital for treatment by the Police.

Two youth have gone missing from uptown are of Natipora in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district, the family members of the duo have said. Two missing youth have been identified as Irfan Ahmad Sofi Son of Nazir Ahmad Sofi and Bilal Manzoor Bhat Son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat both residents of Natipora Srinagar, Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) reported. The elections for the seventh phase of the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu Kashmir are currently underway. Polling for 31 DDC seats, 13 in the Kashmir division and 18 in the Jammu division began on Wednesday at 7 am. As per official figures, More than six lakh voters will decide the fate of 298 candidates including 72 women contesting in the seventh phase of the DDC elections in Jammu Kashmir. A middle-aged socio-political worker was injured after he was shot at outside his house in Draj village of Kotranka in Rajouri district, late last night. The injured has been identified as 36-year-old Ranjit Singh son of Prem Singh, a resident of Draj village of Kotranka in Rajouri district. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that at around 12 AM last night, unknown gunmen fired at Singh, outside his house. "He sustained a bullet wound," the official said.
