Mubashir Naik Police officials on Monday said that a Naka was laid on Sunday night by the police team at National Highway bye pass road and routine checking of vehicles was being done. "During the checking, a man roaming suspiciously tried to flee away from the Nakka on seeing police personnel, but was apprehended," said the official. A 19-year-old boy from Srinagar died under mysterious circumstances in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir on Monday. An official said that Mubashir Sajad Dar (19) son of Sajad Ahmad Dar, a resident of Nowpora locality of Khanyar in Srinagar, along with his colleague reached Hotel Akash in Pahalgam on Sunday afternoon for a night stay, a local news agency KNO reported. He said that Mubashir did not wake up this morning and was shifted to GMC Anantnag in an unconscious state. “At GMC, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Now his postmortem is being carried out there,” he said. The official added that his colleague, who was along with him, is being questioned and the matter is being investigated.

Meer Irfan  The residents of Batwara area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district staged a protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department over the issue of non-availability of drinking water in the area. The residents speaking to The Kashmiriyat demanded clean drinking water for their survival as the area is facing acute shortage of drinking water facilities. Groups of men and women, who were part of the protest, assembled on the Sonwar- Pantha Chowk road for several hours, as a result, the road was blocked. The protestors also raised slogans against the PHE.

The pistol by which the fire was opened on Toll Plaza employee during the clash was also recovered. As per police sources, a clash broke out between some persons and employees of Ban Toll Plaza at Nagrota today morning over payment of toll tax. In the clash, six persons received injuries and were shifted to Jammu hospital. Three vehicles and window panes of Ban Toll Plaza were damaged in the clash.
