Anantnag Police Arrested a Local with Heroin

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Sunday said it arrested a drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession. As per an official, on Sunday afternoon a team of Police station Anantnag headed by Station House Officer Mr. Rashid Khan during naka checking apprehended Rouf Ahmad Lachoo, a Resident of Shirpora Anantnag who was found with possession of 100 grams of heroin (narcotic drug). After the latter was arrested, the Jammu Kashmir Police has registered under relevant sections of law. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Anshul Garg today inaugurated Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Program 2021 at Maternity and Childcare Hospital in Anantnag. The DC started the campaign by administering oral anti polio vaccine drops to the newly born infants in presence of CMO and Superintendent M & CCH Anantnag. CMO Anantnag, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad on the occasion informed the DC that 146152 children in the age group of 0-5 years will be administered pulse polio drops in the district. Shabir Khan Jammu Kashmir Police on Sunday recovered arms and ammunition from a vegetable shop at Sangrama area of Sopore in North Kashmir. An official said, this development came after an OGW who was arrested days before at Bandipora area was being questioned, during questioning he revealed that arms and ammunition have been placed in Sopore area. Upon which a team went there and recovered arms and ammunition, he said. “Five grenades, 20 rounds and a pistol recovered from a shop in Sangrama Sopore”, he added. The Delhi Police have arrested a freelance journalist Mandeep Punia after he allegedly misbehaved with a station house officer (SHO) at the Singhu border. The incident happened on Saturday. The police said that Punia was jumping the roadblocks and barricades when the alleged incident took place. “Mandeep has been booked under sections 186 IPC (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 353 IPC (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty). The case is registered at the Alipur police station,” said a senior police officer. Another journalist, Dharmender Singh, was also briefly picked up and later let go after he showed his press ID, police said. Punia will be produced in the court later in the day.
