On Saturday, a CRPF trooper died after a massive cardiac arrest in Sopore area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district. An official said that a CRPF trooper who was on duty died of cardiac arrest early this morning and fell unconscious. A man was arrested by Police on Saturday in Jammu for allegedly duping a woman of 23.50 lakh rupees on the pretext of sale of a JCB excavator in 2017 here, a spokesperson of the Crime Branch said. Kulbir Singh, proprietor of K K Motors, was arrested from the city by the Crime Branch sleuths after a local court dismissed his bail application, the spokesperson said. Peoples Democratic Party Youth Wing President Waheed ur Rehaman Parra who was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been released on bail by an NIA court in Jammu. An official was quoted saying Parra was taken to Jammu and produced before a designated NIA court in a case related to his alleged “close links” with Irfan Shafi Mir, who was earlier arrested along with Hizbul Mujahideen militant Naveed Babu and suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police Davinder Singh last year. A PDP leader also confirmed the release of PDP youth leader. Parra who won the District Development Committee polls recently was detained by the NIA in late november.

The Indian Army on Friday (8 January) morning apprehended a Chinese People Liberation Army's (PLA) soldier near Gurung hill in the Chushul sector of eastern Ladakh, India Today reported. The PLA troop had transgressed across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and was taken into custody by the Indian troops deployed in the area, the Indian Army said in a statement. "Troops from either side are deployed along the LAC since friction erupted last year due to unprecedented mobilization and forward concentration by Chinese troops," the Indian Army said.
