A thick blanket of snow covered Kashmir on Tuesday as most areas received heavy snowfall. The snowfall started late last evening which was still going on in both plains and higher reaches of Kashmir valley, which is to continue till tomorrow morning, according to Kashmir Weather Reports. South Kashmir districts were most-affected with snow accumulation between 2 to 6 feet. Snow depth at Shopian Town was more than 3.5 feet till 5:30p.m, same was the case with Kulgam Town. Today DO, Nagbal - SI, Mohd. Akbar saved a life of a poisoned teenage patient, who was on way for treatment from Pirpora Hospital to SKIMS, Soura. Their ambulance was stuck on the road near Darrend, Nagbal . He cleared all congregated traffic and help the patient reach SKIMS, timely where he is under treatment. The divisional administration in Kashmir Valley has ordered rationing of fuel as “precautionary measure” amid continuous snowfall. Divisional Commissioner Pandurang Kondbarao Pole told on Tuesday that the order has been issued as “precautionary one” even as stocks are full. “We are not low on stocks. The order is a precautionary, a preventive one to avoid any difficulties which may arise (in future),” he said responding to query if the stocks are running low due to continuous closure of Jammu-Srinagar highway amid unabated snowfall across the Valley.
