European Delegation Lands in Kashmir- Shutdown in Parts of Srinagar

A high level European Union delegation landed in Srinagar today, officials said. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the delegation is on a two day visit and is scheduled to meet various groups in Kashmir. This will be the third delegation visiting the valley to assess the ground situation in the UT after the Cetral Government stripped off the Special Status of erstwhile state of Jammu Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two UTs—Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. As per the reports, the Delegation is scheduled to meet the Civil Society members in Central Kashmir's Budgam district today. Meanwhile parts of the Kashmir valley have shut against the visit of the envoys on a Government sponsored programme.(Inputs from KNO)

Kashmir Reports 20,000 Burn Injuries Annually : Officials

  Kashmir reports 20,000 burn injuries annually with 15,000 require hospitalization. Officials said that most of the burn injuries are not always suicidal but mostly caused by accidents. "Every year around 20,000 people are treated for burn injuries in Kashmir. Among them around 15,000 are admitted in the hospital," they said. Officials said during winters, the case of fire incidents and subsequent burn injuries are very high. "Leakage of the domestic LPG cylinders are mostly the cause for major fire incidents, besides that Kangri and kerosene are also responsible for burn injuries," they said. Three Army men Allegedly Tried to Molest Minor Girl in Bandipora Kashmir- Arrested

Three army troopers have been found allegedly involved in the molestation and making an abduction bid on a minor girl last week in Chewa area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. On Monday, police said, a woman was burnt alive by her family members over an inter - faith love affair. The woman’s father, brother, brother-in-law and another person have been arrested in this connection.
