 Days after Restoration of 4G Internet, India Plans another Trip of Foreign Envoys to Jammu Kashmir

Days after 4G mobile internet services were restored in Jammu Kashmir, the government is preparing to take a group of diplomats to visit the Union Territory. According to a report by the Hindu, in an effort to showcase the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre is planning to take a group of foreign envoys for a two-day visit. The visit, which is being planned in the next few weeks, will include about 20 envoys and diplomats from different countries, including the European Union. During the visit, the group of foreign envoys are expected to meet government officials, newly-elected local District Development Council (DDC) representatives, business chambers and members of civil society. This will be third such visit of foreign envoys to the Union Territory in the last one year. ...

India has set a deadline of year 2022 for the Kashmir Pandits to return to the Valley, the country’s home minister Amit Shah told the lower house of the parliament on Saturday. Shah said that the Narendra Modi's government has decided to resettle all displaced Kashmiri Pandits in the valley by 2022 along with creating 25,000 jobs for the people and train connectivity to the region. The Kashmiri Militant Hidayatullah Malik, who was recently arrested from Jammu, as per news reports had conducted a recce video at the office of NSA, Ajit Doval. Malik has revealed this during an interrogation after which the security cover of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has been beefed up. An affiliate of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Malik who is a resident of Shopian, was arrested on 6 February in Jammu. Media reports quoting sources related to the matter said that Hidayatullah Malik told during interrogation that he had conducted a recce at Doval’s office and some other important buildings at the behest of his Pakistani handlers.
