On Wednesday, prominent woman activist Loujain al- Hathloul was released from prison after three years on charges that have sparked an international uproar over the kingdom’s human rights record. Her release was confirmed by her family, when her sister tweeted and posted a photo of her on instagram. Hathloul, who pushed to end a ban on women driving in Saudi Arabia, was sentenced to almost six years in prison last December under a broad counterterrorism law. Petition to ban Cow slaughter in Jammu Kashmir Rejected

The PIL seeking a ban on cow slaughter and enacting strict laws on it was rejected by the High Court. A division bench of Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Rajneah Oswal asked the petitioner to place his demand before the Chief Secretary of Jammu Kashmir. In the PIL filed in the High Court, the NGO demanded a stringent law against cow slaughter in Jammu Kashmir so that cow slaughter can be stopped in the state. Lawyers appearing on behalf of the petitioner argued in the High Court that cow slaughter was a punishable offense under Ranbir Penal Code RPC. After coming into force in the state of Jammu Kashmir Reorganization Act-2019, it no longer comes under the category of crime in Jammu Kashmir. Dead Body of One-Year-old Found in Ganderbal

Shah Basit/ Rayees Shah The dead Body of a one-year-old missing child was recovered from Nallah Sindh at Kullan area of Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday. Police officials told The Kashmiriyat that the body of the 1-year-old identified as Wahid Ahmad Sontra Son of Mukhtiyar Ahmad Sontra resident of Rezan Gund by Police and Locals from Nallah Sindh at Kullan. Residential House Damaged by Fire in Srinagar Area of Central Kashmir

A residential house was damaged in a massive fire that broke at Rajbagh area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar on Wednesday. Officials told GNS that fire broke out in the attic of a three floored residential house near Modern hospital in Rajbagh and five fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse off the flames. The fire was later brought under control and the residential house suffered damage.
