Twitters Plays it Smart – Suspends 500 Accounts and Refuses to Act on 1178 Accounts, as Requested by the Central Government

In response to the ''legal requests'' from the Central government, Twitter on Wednesday informed that it has taken multiple enforcement actions - including permanent suspension of over 500 accounts for clear violations of Twitter's rules. 93 Sedition Cases Registered in 2019 in India, 11 in Jammu Kashmir

As many as 93 cases of sedition were registered in different parts of the country in 2019 in which 96 people were arrested, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday. Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said charge sheets were filed against 76 people while 29 were acquitted by the courts in 2019. The highest number of 22 sedition cases in 2019 was registered in Karnataka where 18 people were arrested, he said in a written reply to a question. Reddy said 17 sedition cases were registered in Assam where 23 people were arrested. A total of 11 sedition cases were registered in Jammu Kashmir where 16 people were arrested. ‘Intruder’ Killed by Government Forces on LoC

An intruder was killed by security forces at Dulanja post near LoC in the Uri area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district in the wee hours on Wednesday. A senior Police officer said that in night hours one intruder was killed at LoC on PaK side near forward post Dulanja Uri by security forces. The officer further said that the body along with the weapon is visible, however, more clarity will come after we retrieve the body. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court stayed the arrest of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and six journalists including Rajdeep Sardesai and Vinod K Jose, in the controversial case where they were booked under charges of sedition for tweets related to farmers’ tractor rally on Republic Day. A bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde issued notices and sought responses from the Union government and others on the petitions filed by Tharoor and journalists Rajdeep Sardesai, Mrinal Pande, Zafar Agha, Paresh Nath, Vinod K Jose and Anant Nath. Bat Factory Gutted in Fire Incident in Anantnag

A bat manufacturing unit was badly damaged in a nocturnal fire incident in Bijbehara town of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The fire incident occurred in Hussanpora village of Bijbehara where this bat factory is located. Local sources told KNT that bat factory was badly damaged in the fire incident. Fire tenders rushed to spot and controlled fire from spreading to other buildings. The owner of the factory Muhammad Ramzan while confirming the fire incident said that timber and bats manufactured were damaged in the incident.
