Supreme Court to Hear the Plea of Rohingya Refugees Detained in Jammu

  On Thursday, Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea to release and protect over 150 Rohingya refugees who were detained in Jammu. Chief Justice of India S.A. Bobde agreed to hear the application filed by a member of the Rohingya community, Mohammad Salimullah, represented by advocates Prashant Bhushan and Cheryl D’Souza, on April 25. Salimullah, who is a petitioner in the Supreme Court against the deportment of Rohingyas, said that his application was based on reports in media outlets that Rohingya members had been detained in a sub-jail in Jammu. Minor Girl Gangraped by 16 People in Jhalwar, Rajasthan – 4 Minors and 12 Others Arrested

  On Tuesday, sixteen people and four minors were detained in Rajasthan for allegedly gangraping a 15-year-old girl for over nine days earlier this month. The BJP slammed the Congress government in Rajasthan over the issue, saying that the law and order situation in the state has completely failed. The police said that two people including a woman took the minor girl from Kota to Jhalawar district on February 25 on saying she will buy her a bag, where 3-4 more people joined them and the girl was gangraped.   An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of traffic police was killed after he was hit by a speedy truck on Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Qazigund area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district. School Building Gutted in Fire at Kulgam

  A government school building was gutted in a fire mishap in Yaripora village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday evening. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the Primary School building located at Munand, Yaripora caught fire this evening. He said that both local residents and fire tenders reached the spot but could not save the building from being destroyed. A police official said that they have taken consideration of the incident and started investigation to ascertain the cause of fire.
