Encounter Breaks Out in Shopian Kashmir

An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Dangam area of Harmain in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday evening. An official confirming the exchange of gunfire to The Kashmiriyat said that 34 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly laid a siege in Dangam area of Shopian. He said that the cordon was laid after the forces had received a tip-off about Militant movements in the area. As soon as the forces launched the searches, the Militants opened fire on them to which the forces responded. Suhail Dar Officials in Anantnag sealed a brick kiln in the Shamsipora area of Mattan in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Saturday. Additional Director Food, Wali Mohammed speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that under the directions of the Deputy commissioner in Anantnag several brick kilns were raided in the South Kashmir district. He said that a brick kiln named DBF in Shamsipora was sealed as the kiln was found to be operating illegally without a bill book. "We have served notices to three other brick kilns and they have been asked to report at the office of the Deputy commissioner in Anantnag."
