UAE Mediates Secret Peace-Roadmap Between India and Pakistan- Report

The India-Pakistan ceasefire marked a milestone in secret talks brokered by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that began months earlier, according to a Bloomberg news report. The UAE, which has historic trade and diplomatic links with India and Pakistan, has taken a more assertive international role under de facto ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Bloomberg report said. About 24 hours after military chiefs from India and Pakistan surprised the world last month with a rare joint commitment to respect a 2003 ceasefire agreement, a top UAE diplomat flew to New Delhi for a quick one-day visit, the report said. A 35-year-old man, died after a Maruti car, he was driving, rolled down near Pul Doda in Doda district on Tuesday morning. An official said that the Maruti Car bearing regd no PB35L-3419 roll down near Pul Doda, resulting in on-spot death to the driver of the vehicle. The deceased has been identified as Amjad Hussain son of Showkat Hussain Qazi, a resident of Bhalla district of Doda. The official said that the deceased was working as a constable in J&K Police. In view of the growing cases of Coronavirus in Jammu Kashmir, preparations are being made to make containment and red zones in different districts of the region. The district administration has sought the details of day-to-day infected cases from the health department. For the past several months, there are no containment zones anywhere in Jammu Kashmir. The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Monday informed the Rajya Sabha that the total cover of forest land of Jammu Kashmir has decreased by 420 Sq Kms between the year 2015 to 2019. The Ministry shared the information in Rajya Sabha in response to the question raised that includes the details of the increase/ decrease in forest cover during the last 3 years, deforestation programs, and funds utilized during the past year. In a written response, in Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State (MoS) of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change said that from the total forest land of 624 Sq Kms, the cover has reduced by 410 Sq Kms while the percentage of total tree cover stands at 3.57 only. On Saturday, residents of Harijan Basti in Sarai Kale Khan of Delhi were attacked by a mob after a Dalit man married a Muslim woman with each other’s consent, the police said on Sunday. The police said that at least 15 to 20 men has entered the locality around 10:30pm and attacked the house of the Dalit man with bricks, broke flower pots, thrashed both men and women and vandalised two-wheelers parked outside houses.
