Suhai Dar   Early on Saturday, the visuals of a house set ablaze hit the internet, where fire tenders and Policemen were seen rushing to the spot in the Moominabad area on the outskirts of Anantnag township in South Kashmir. The house of one local resident, Gul Mohammad Misgar was set on fire. The incident happened hours after a woman (name withheld), who was a resident of Kulgam was found hanging inside the house of Gul Mohammad Misgar. The woman found hanging was the wife of Atif Gul Misgar, son of Gul Mohammad Misgar.  Family of Atif Gul has accused the brother of the deceased woman of setting their house on fire. Supreme Dismisses Petition of Waseem Rizvi Seeking Removal of Certain Verses from Quran

On Monday, Supreme Court dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) petition which sought removal of certain verses from the Holy Quran alleging that they violate the law of the land and promote extremism. A Bench of Justices Rohinton Fali Nariman, BR Gavai and Hrishikesh Roy imposed costs of Rs. 50,000 on the petitioner Syed Waseem Rizvi. Rizvi, in a plea, alleged that certain verses in the Quran are a threat to the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of the country. He sought a declaration from the court to hold those verses unconstitutional, non-effective and non-functional. The plea also sought directions to appoint a committee of religious experts to get an opinion on the subject matter of the petition. The administration of Jammu Kashmir through its Revenue Department has allotted land measuring 496 Kanal 17 Marla on a lease basis to Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams charitable trust. In an order dated 26 March 2021, Administrative Council Decision No. 44/6/2021 sanction was accorded to the grant of State land measuring 496 Kanal 17 marlas under khasra number 243 min at the Majeen area of  Tehsil & District Jammu for the construction of a temple and its allied infrastructures, Pilgrim amenities Complex, Vedapatasala, Spiritual/ Meditation Centre, Office, Residential Quarters, Parking, etc. The land was granted on a lease basis for a period of 40 years from the date of taking over the possession on payment of nominal ground rent of Rs.10/- per Kanal per annum. Three chambers of lawyers at Munsif court were gutted in a blaze in Shangus area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Sunday. A man was allegedly killed after a scuffle broke out between relatives over a land dispute in the Damhal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday afternoon. An official told that Abdul Rashid Chopan, 55, son of Jan Chopan allegedly fell unconscious during the scuffle with his relative Ghulam Hassan Chopan—both residents of Ahmadabad, D H Pora. The duo entered into a scuffle over a land dispute, an official said. The former Special Police Officer (SPO) and brother of Head Constable were on Sunday shot dead by unknown gunmen at Magam area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district. An official told the that unknown gunmen fired upon a former SPO at his home in the Magam area, leaving him severely wounded. The man, who was attacked is also the brother of a Head Constable, a top police official said.
