A Muslim driver was allegedly tortured by traffic police personnel at a police station in Shamshabad near the Hyderabad Airport on the city's outskirts. Mohammed Subhan, a DCM driver, alleged that he was physically tortured at the police station in Shamshabad, where he was kept under custody for three days. Showing the injury marks all over his body, Subhan said a traffic police officer used abusive language and asked him to go to Pakistan. Subhan, who was let off by the police at the intervention of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, said a traffic policeman had clicked a picture of his vehicle when he was driving through the vegetable market in Shamshabad. Jammu Kashmir in the past twenty-four hours reported 3969 covid-19 cases, while as 62 people died of the virus, officials said on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the official figures state that a total of 593 people were vaccinated across the valley. The highest number of people (252) were vaccinated in Srinagar in the age group above 45. Zero vaccinations were carried out in Pulwama, Bandipora, Kupwara and Kulgam district. Seven persons were vaccinated in the age group 18-45, all of them in district Baramulla. A 32-year-old man on Wednesday jumped into river Jhelum in Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district even as the authorities launched a search and rescue operation.
