Recovered AK 47 Rifle, Pistol and Ammunition Dropped by Pakistani Drone: BSF

The BSF on Friday recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pistol and some ammunition dropped by a Pakistani drone from the border belt of Samba district in Jammu Kashmir, officials said. The arms and ammunition cache was found wrapped in yellow-colored polythene and lying on the ground, they said. The recoveries included one AK-47 rifle, one 9mm pistol, one pistol magazine, 15 bullet rounds and a wooden frame used to support the payload of the drone, they said. The drone is suspected to have flown back into the Pakistani territory after it dropped the consignment, officials said. The Border Security Force guards the India-Pakistan International Border. The body of a 70-year-old “mentally unsound” woman was found along the banks of a river near Loran Brachar in Poonch district, officials said on Friday. They said the body was found at about 09:30 a.m. and was later identified to be Mateena Begum (70) daughter of Khawaja Kabir Din of Brachar Loran. “She was mentally disturbed and was missing from her home from yesterday evening,” a police official told. Meer Irfan Cordon and search operation has been launched in three villages of South Kashmir on the morning of Friday in the Kashmir valley. An official told The Kashmiriyat that the Anti-Militancy operations have been launched following inputs about militant presence in the Shopian and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir. He said that the 42 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF have launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) jointly in the Panir and Satoora areas of Tral belt in Pulwama district. Meanwhile, a door-to-door search operation has also been launched in the Awneera area of the Zainapora belt in South Kashmir's Shopian district. The operation was jointly launched by 1 RR of the Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police.
