Meer Irfan Gunshots have been heard during a cordon and search operation in the Kanigam area of Nagbal belt in Shopian in South Kashmir. The incarcerated chairman of Hurriyat Fraction, Mohammed Ashraf Sehrai who was under detention under the Public safety act is in critical condition at GMC Jammu, a family member confirmed to The Kashmiriyat. At least thirty-one more people succumbed to the COVID-19 since last evening in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the fatality count to 2489, officials said on Wednesday. Indian Army on Tuesday raised an issue of less allotment of oxygen to its base hospital in the national capital by the Delhi government. The force stated that the hospital has a daily requirement of 3.4 MT of oxygen. The Delhi government allocated 1 MT till Monday. All of a sudden on Tuesday, the allotment was reduced to 0.4 MT. Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Monday said pregnant women should get the Covid-19 vaccine. “Expecting mothers are now considered a high-risk group and we should extend the vaccine to them on a priority basis,” said DAK President and influenza expert Dr Nisar ul Hassan. Quoting a new study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, he said that the Covid-19 vaccine has been found to be safe for both the mother and the baby.
