‘Forces Snatched my Phone, took my Camera’- Kashmiri Journalist Alleges Harassment

Mir Junaid A Kashmiri photojournalist on Saturday alleged that the Government Forces snatched his camera and his phone while covering the encounter in Shopian's Ganopora on Friday. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, Reshi Irshad while accusing the Forces of harassing him said, "I was covering an encounter in Shopian on Friday when the Forces called me and snatched my camera and my phone." Irshad said that he was called by the Local Police at least five hours later and handed over his camera and the phone. Home Ministry Invites Applications from Non- Muslims of Neighboring Countries for Indian Citizenship

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a notification inviting applications for citizenship from 'non-Muslim' refugees from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The notification, issued on Friday, also called for applications from the 'non-Muslim' refugees residing in 13 districts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Chattisgarh. The Union home ministry, in the notification, demands immediate implementation of the order under the Citizenship Act 1955 and the rules framed under the law in the year 2009, even though the rules unde the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) enacted in 2019 are yet to be framed by the government. On Friday, Kenya donated 12 tonnes of food products to India, as part of its Covid-19 relief efforts. The east African country has sent 12 tonnes of tea, coffee and groundnut, produced locally, to the Indian Red Cross Society. Two days after her 19-year-old daughter was killed, a 49-year-old woman succumbed to serious injuries at Srinagar hospital in wee hours of Saturday, official sources said. The mother and the daughter had suffered grievous wounds when a Dead shell went off while they were picking collard greens, popularly known as 'Haakh’, and some forest vegetables ‘longdi’ into their bag, at their residence in Sharkoot Villgam in Taratpora Amargargh area of Handwara. Police said that the duo had apparently brought the “dead shell” along with the vegetables from nearby forest area on Tuesday (May 25).
