First case of Black Fungus detected at SKIMS: Officials

The doctors at the premiere health care institution of Kashmir, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, have detected the first post Covid-19 case having Mucormycosis infection popularly known as Black Fungus, officials said here on Saturday. A top health official told that a 35-year-old female from Udhampur who had recovered from Covid-19 showed symptoms of Mucormycosis like bilateral eye swelling and acute pain on left side and greenish discharge from her nose. He said that patient was recently diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and after greenish discharge from her nose, patient was initially admitted in Udhampur. “The patient went to Chandigarh for further treatment, after brain MRI, Mucormycosis treatment was given to her but she didn't recover,” he said. ...

Two very elderly men belonging to the Shopian district have beaten covid-19 safely while remaining steadfast since the virus affected them during the first and second wave respectively. Ghulam Hassan Dar, 90, a resident of Zainapora belt of Shopian was tested positive for Covid-19 during the early initial stage of the first wave of Covid-19 and was directly taken to hospital. Along with Tufail Mattoo's murder, on every June 11, Kashmir also shudders remembering the bloodshed caused by the security forces in the Chotta Bazar Massacre of 1991, which marks three decades today. The limited sources available around this massacre say that around six CRPF men came to Chotta Bazar in the Downtown area of Srinagar from their camp at the Government Medical College, Karan Nagar, and started firing indiscriminately at the civilians. 31 year old Woman Commits suicide in Kokernag

Waris Shah A 31-year-old woman was found lying dead in his room in Chree Panzgam village of kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday. A police official told  The Kashmiriyat that a Women name (withheld) ended her life possibly by hanging herself at his residence at Chree Pangzgam village. He said that the Woman was rushed to the district hospital where doctors declared her dead. The body was then handed over to the family after completing necessary medical formalities. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and an investigation has been taken up, he added.
