Expressing serious concern over the fate of five mosques and religious places which fall under the proposed Central Vista Project, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind-led by President Maulana Mahmood Madani on Wednesday urged the government to ensure protection of mosques from the Project. The organization also categorically made it clear that no alternative will be acceptable to the community in lieu of these mosques. It also asserted that it is part of heritage and any damage to these places will bring bad name to the country. Two ‘Gangsters’ from Punjab Killed in Encounter in Kolkata

Two "gangsters" from Punjab - Jaipal Bhullar and Jaspreet Jassi - were killed in an encounter with the STF of Kolkata Police at New Town on Wednesday, official sources said. A policeman was also injured in the shootout at the posh Shapoorji Housing Complex at New Town, the expanding township in the eastern part of this metropolis. Bhullar said to be a son of a former cop of Punjab, said to be carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh for his information after he allegedly killed some policemen in that state. Shabir Khan A Central Reserve Police Force man died of a heart attack in the Sopore area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a CRPF officer identified as Hasin Khan who was posted with 177 Battalion suffered a major heart attack, on duty at Amargrah in Sopore town. A minor nomadic girl has gone missing five days ago from the Pahalgam belt of South Kashmir's Anantnag district and since then there are no traces of her. Protests Continue in Jammu over Opening of Wine Shops in Residential Areas

Protests continued in various localities of the winter capital city, Jammu, over the opening of wine shops in residential areas on Wednesday. Witnesses said that scores of people including women and children staged a protest in the city’s Shakti Nagar area and against the administration. The Badami Bagh Cantonment Board (BBCB) has allegedly started imposing property tax in areas under its jurisdiction in Srinagar city. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Inaugurates 500-Bedded DRDO Hospital In Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday inaugurated a 500-bedded Covid hospital in Srinagar. The facility was constructed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) COVID-19 hospital with an ICU facility at Khonmoh in the Srinagar district. Housing all requisite modern facilities, the centrally air-conditioned hospital can accommodate 125 ICU beds, out of which 25 are reserved for children and 375 beds with 24-hour oxygen connectivity. “Ten bedded triage area has also been built in 100 sqm. The covid care facility will start its operations once the trial run of all the medical facilities is completed,” a government spokesman said. Amid growing fears of leopard attacks in Kashmir, a 4-year-old nomadic girl has gone missing from a far-flung area of Pahalgam Hill Station of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Police sources said that  Abdul Rashid Baji, father of a 4-year-old girl, Shakira Banoo reported at police station Pahalgam that her daughter has gone missing from Pathribal Batakoot area of Pahalgam. They said search are underway to ascertain the location of the missing girl. Police registered an FIR vide number 33/2021 under section 363 in this regard at police station Pahalgam.
