NIA Files Charge-Sheet Against Tehreek ul Mujahideen in ‘Poonch Conspiracy case’

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed before special NIA court in Jammu against seven Militants of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM) in Poonch conspiracy case of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the NIA statement, a charge sheet has been filed against Mohd Mustafa Khan, Mohd Yaseen, Mohd Farooq, Mohd Ibrar, Mohd Javid Khan, Sher Ali, and Mohd Rafiq under various Sections of the Arms Act and Explosive Substance Act. "Yesterday, NIA filed Charge-sheet before special NIA court, Jammu against seven accused u/s 120-B read with sections 121-A, 122 of IPC, Sections 7, 25 of Arms Act, Sections 3 & 4 of Explosive Substance Act and Sections 18, 38, 39 of the UA(P) Act. Muslim Journalist Booked Under Goondas Act by the UP Police

The UP police has booked an independent journalist, Zakir Ali Tyagi, under the Goondas Act. Tyagi, who is also the vice president of rights group National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO), hails from Meerut, and had been framed by the police under false charges earlier as well. The case against Tyagi was registered in Parikshitgarh Police Station in Meerut on April 25, this year. As per a report by Maktoob Media, Tyagi got to know about the case after two police officers informed him the details of the case on June 23, three months after he was booked under the Goondas Act. On Friday, the Lakshadweep filmmaker and activist Aisha Sultana was granted an anticipatory bail in a Sedition case filed against her, for her comments against Lakshadweep administrator Praful Khoda Patel. The past week, Sultana was granted an interim anticipatory bail by the high court in the sedition case filed against her for criticizing the island administration and the new policies. Ganderbal Police Prevents Girl From Ending Her Life

The Ganderbal Police prevented a suicide bid attempted by a minor girl, timely. On Friday, in the evening hours, DO Police Post Shadipora Sub Inspector Gulzar Ahmad during patrolling in the area, found a girl attempting to jump into the river Jehlum at village Shalhar Dab, Ganderbal. Ex-Cop Who Murdered George Floyd Sentenced To 22.5 Years in Prison

The former police officer who killed George Floyd on a Minneapolis street last year, has been sentenced on Friday to 22.5 years in prison. Chauvin, last year, murdered George Floyd in a street on May 25, 2020. The death was videotaped, where the white policeman could be seen kneeling on Floyd's neck for more than 9 minutes. The incident led to massive protests in the US, where people demanded reform of the police departments. The sentence was less than the 40-year maximum for the killing of Floyd, a Black man.
