Islamic Fraternity – a Kashmir based religious organization, has relocated the venue of its proposed conference themed on rising suicides to Jamia Masjid Rangtaing in Kawadara Srinagar from previously selected venue at Aali Masjid, Srinagar. President Islamic Fraternity, Muhammad Aamir Al-Kashmiri, in a statement issued to GNS said that the organization has been denied permission to hold the conference at Aali Masjid Srinagar after the mosque management informed them that the mosque has been taken over by Waqf Board. Two Persons Injured in Bear Attacks in Ganderbal Village

Two persons were injured in two separate incidents of bear attacks in twin villages of the Kangan area here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday. Reports said that 70-year-old Ghulam Ahmed Sheikh S/O Mohd Sediq Sheikh R/O Check Akhal was seriously injured by a bear near his house this afternoon. He was rescued by locals and was rushed to Sub-District Hospital Kangan wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS Soura. In another incident at the same time, 53-year old woman Mukhti Begum W/O Mohd Subhan Lone was also attacked at Gounchi Mohalla Akhal just a few meters from the previous spot. UP Govt withdrew 77 Muzaffarnagar Riot Cases without providing reasons, SC Told

The Supreme Court was told on Tuesday that the Uttar Pradesh government has withdrawn 77 cases pertaining to the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013, including for offences entailing a life sentence, without giving any reasons. A bench of Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and Surya Kant is scheduled to hear a plea filed by advocate Ashwini Upadhyay seeking speedy disposal of cases against lawmakers.
