Police on Tuesday issued statement post Encounter in Peth Seer North Kashmir's Sopore. In a statement to GNS, the police said that during the intervening night of 23/24 August, based on specific input generated by Police regarding presence of militants in Pethseer area of Sopore, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Sopore Police, Army(52RR ) and CRPF in the said area. The body of a 36-year-old female teacher was found around 100 meters from her residence in Poonch district on Tuesday, officials said. They said “injury marks” were visible on the body of the teacher identified as Shanaz Akhter (teacher) wife of Mohammad Irfan of Keri Gursai. Confirming it, SHO Gurasi Niaz Ahmad told GNS postmortem is being conducted at Government Sub-district hospital Mendhar. He said that “there are visible injury marks” on the body of the teacher, who was posted at government middle school Keri Gulthan in the Balakote Mendhar area of the district.
