Nine members of one family,  including six children were killed in a US drone strike targeting a residential Kabul. As per a news report published by CNN, the United States said that it carried out an airstrike in Kabul, targeting a suspected ISIS-K suicide bomber who posed threat to the airport. While a statement released by the United Nations Security Council on August 16, right after Kabul fell to the Taliban mentioned Taliban in its Terror statement, but that issued on August 27, a day after the blasts near Kabul airport did not. The statement referred to the Taliban as an 'Afghan group', instead. As per a report by Reuters, two U.S. officials confirmed that the United States carried out a military strike on Sunday in Kabul. The official spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity and said that the strike targeted suspected ISIS-K terrorists. They also said that they were citing initial information and cautioned it could change.
