The parents of a Dalit boy were fined Rs 23,000 after their 2-year-old son entered a Hanuman temple to seek blessings of the god at Miyapura village near Hanumasagar in Koppal district of Karnataka. The toddler was taken to the Hanuman temple by his father on his birthday. As Dalits here are not allowed inside the temple, they always prayed from outside standing in front of the temple. OIC Calls for Restoration of Special Status to Jammu Kashmir

The Contact Group of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has asked India to reverse its decision of scrapping the semi-autonomous status of Jammu Kashmir. The statement by OIC was delivered in its meeting on the sidelines of the 76th UN General Assembly. India has asked the OIC to refrain from allowing vested interests to exploit its platform for comments on the internal affairs of the country. “The OIC has no locus stand in matters relating to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral part of India. Several Killed in Shootout inside Court Premises in Delhi

Several people are reported to have been killed in a shootout that took place inside the premises of Delhi’s Rohini court. Among those dead are also two attackers, who entered the court premises in lawyers’ attire. A report by NDTV said that one Jitender Gogi, a gangster, was allegedly shot dead. Gogi was being produced at Rohini court when the armed members of the rival gang, dressed as lawyers opened fire. One female lawyer too has sustained injuries. Leopard cub captured at Budgam village

Seven days after a nine-year-old boy was mauled to death, a leopard cub was caught alive by Wildlife authorities on Friday morning at the Dooru Sebdan area in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a leopard was spotted in the area following which the searches were intensified accordingly. He said that after strenuous efforts, the leopard cub was caught alive on Friday morning. He said that the leopard was captured at the place, located close to the village where a nine-year-old boy was mauled to death a week before. He said that the search is continuing from the last eleven days and staff has been deployed at every hotspot to catch the animal, who mauled the boy to death.—(KNO)

Jammu Kashmir Saw an Upsurge in Environment Related Offences in 2020: NCRB data

Among eight other Union Territories (UTs) of India, Jammu Kashmir has recorded the highest number of environment-related offences in the year 2020, reveals National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) official data. According to the data revealed by NCRB, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) states that Jammu Kashmir stands first in the list of environment-related offences with 62 case among eight UTs followed by Puducherry with 54 and Delhi with 23 cases. As per the NCRB report, Jammu and Kashmir reported eight cases of environment-related offences in 2018. In 2019, the cases increased to 20 and subsequently in 2020, the number of environment-related offences increased to 62.
