On Wednesday, (September 29), the Press Council of India responded to the former C.M. Mehbooba Mufti's letter, wherein, she had urged the organization to "send a fact-finding team to J&K, to independently verify" the claims of "intimidation, snooping and harassment of journalists" in the erstwhile state and "take remedial action." The security forces on Wednesday evening launched a cordon and search operation in Bus Stand and its adjoining areas in Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said. Director of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has decided to rescind the order that it had issued holding the salaries of employees who allegedly were not remaining present on duty during the visit of dignitaries in Jammu Kashmir.
