The Kashmiri community in South Africa held funeral prayers in absentia in the wake of Syed Ali Shah Geelani's death at Johannesburg. Kashmiris gathered in Johannesburg on Thursday night and also held special prayers for the deceased Hurriyat leader. The widely popular veteran separatist leader from Kashmir Syed Ali Shah Geelani passed away Wednesday night at around 10:30 p.m., after which the news spread widely across the valley. Kashmir University Postpones all Exams Scheduled Tomorrow

Kashmir University has postponed all exams scheduled to be held tomorrow (Saturday). "All Undergraduate and Postgraduate examinations of the Kashmir University scheduled to be held on Saturday (September 4, 2021) have been postponed," Controller of Examinations Prof Irshad A Nawchoo said, adding that the fresh dates for the deferred examinations will be notified later. Pertinently curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in the valley since late Wednesday night after the demise of senior-most Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Situation Peaceful, Calling and Broadband Services to be Restored at 10 PM Tonight: IGP

The Inspector-General of Jammu Kashmir Police for Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar on Friday said that calling and mobile internet services will be restored in the Kashmir valley on Friday Night. "So far the situation has remained peaceful & under control.  Mobile service (voice call) and broadband of all TSPs shall open from today evening at 10 pm," the  IGP Kashmir stated. He also thanked the public for their "cooperation in maintaining law & order." Pertinently, restrictions were placed on telecommunication services including calling and internet after the demise of Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Wednesday night. Curfew-like restrictions were placed across the valley immediately after his death.

Mubashir Naik Two persons died have died as a tractor met with a road accident in the Garhi area of Thakrakote tehsil of Reasi district on Friday. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday, a trolley rolled down in deep gorge at Sai village near link road in Reasi, resulting in death of two persons.
