China Continues to Deploy Large Troops, Armaments in Border Areas Says Ministry of External Affairs

On Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that China has been continuously deploying large number of troops and armaments in several high-altitude forward areas on its side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. “It was in response to Chinese actions that our armed forces had to make counter deployments in these areas to ensure that India’s security interests are fully protected," the MEA said. The Ministry was questioned about the remarks made by the Chinese MFA regarding the situation at the border, to which the MEA said, "It is our expectation that the Chinese side will work towards early resolution of the remaining issues along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh while fully abiding by bilateral agreements and protocols." The Army on Friday said that they have apprehended a PoK man, while he was trying to sneak in from Line of Control in Balnoi area in Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district. A mother-daughter duo are feared dead after they were washed away in flash floods while working in their fields at Chatyari area of Rajouri district last night, officials said. They said that there were flash floods close to a nallah (rivulet) during the intervening night of September 30 and October 1 in Chatyari. Two women Gulzar Begam( 60) wife of Mohammad Akbar and her daughter Maqsooda Begun (40) were washed away. Soon after getting the information, a police team rushed to the spot and joined locals in tracing out the duo. 52-Year-Old Man Killed In Bear Attack at Palbuth Soaf Shali, Kokernag

Sheikh Nadeem/Waris Shah A 52-year-old man was mauled to death by a wild bear in Soaf Shali in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday. Locals said that the man identified as Abdul Rasheed Bhat son of Mohd Sultan Bhat was attacked in Palbuth, while he took his cattle out for grazing. Bhat was grievously injured by a wild bear in his native village of Soafshali, Kokernag. Soon, the locals rushed towards the spot but found Rasheed dead, here. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that at least 3 wild bears were roaming in the area, while they had also tried to enter nearby houses. The wild bears pose a great threat tonthe residents of Bhat Mohallah Soafshali. The residents, here, appealed to district admin take step to capture these wild bears.
