21-Day-Old Militant likely Killed in Shopian Encounter

Meer Irfan The encounter in the Shopian district that raged early on Friday morning has ended with the killing of one Militant, officials said Friday. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, an official had earlier said that on Friday morning Militants fired upon forces during a cordon and search operation in Rakhama area of Shopian. During the exchange of gunfire, one Militant has been killed, he said. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the slain Militant has been identified as 23-year-old Mujeeb Lone son of Mohd Amin Lone resident of Redwani Bala area of Kulgam. They said that Mujeeb was active since the 9th day of September, 2021.

Militant Killed in Ongoing Encounter in Shopian

Meer Irfan  One Militant has been killed in an encounter that raged between government forces and militants in Rakhama area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday morning. An official speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the Government Forces including Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the area. During the cordon, he said, the hiding Militants opened fire on forces around 5 AM, to which the forces retaliated. During the exchange of gunfire, one Militant has been killed, who is yet to be identified, the official said. As per the locals from the area, the firing has stopped, however massive searches are still underway.
