Delhi Court Reserves Order on Sharjeel Imam’s Bail Order

A Delhi court on Tuesday reserved its order on the bail application of JNU scholar and activist Sharjeel Imam, in connection with a 2019 case related to his alleged inflammatory speeches during the protests against the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat reserved the order after hearing both sides in the case. The court is likely to pronounce the order on the bail plea on November 15. His counsel Tanveer Ahmed Mir argued that being critical of the government cannot be the cause of sedition. MBBS Student from Srinagar Dies in Jammu; Cause of Death Being Ascertained, says Police

A20-year-old MBBS student from Srinagar has died of ‘unascertained’ cause in Jammu, officials on Thursday morning said. They said that one Yameen, 20, pursuing his MBBS degree from ASCOMS Batra, putting up at Asarabad Flat Sidhra was brought to GMC in unconscious condition on Wednesday evening. However the boy was declared dead on arrival by the doctors there, they told GNS adding the cause of death was however not immediately ascertained. The deceased is said to be a resident of Peer Bagh Srinagar. Confirming the death of the student, Police Post Incharge Sidhra Jammu Shakil Ahmad told GNS that an Inquiry Officer has been deputed for verification into the incident. “Investigations are on to ascertain the cause of death of the student”, the official said. 30-year-old man’s body found in paddy field in Batnoor Pulwama

Body of a 30-year-old man was found under mysterious circumstances in Batnoor Shahoora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday. Reports reaching GNS said that the body was spotted in the paddy field by some passersby. Subsequently the police was informed which reached the spot soon and took the corpse into possession. Meanwhile a police official confirming the recovery of body said that based on documents found in his pocket, he has been identified as Ali Mohammad Bhat (30) of Barsoo Awantipora. The official told GNS that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law and investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of death. (GNS)

The government on Wednesday renamed Lakes and Waterways Development Authority as Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA). “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Development Act, 1970 (Act XIX of 1970), the Government hereby re-name Lakes and Waterways Development Authority constituted vide notification SRO 109 of 1997 dated 27.03.1997 as Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) for all purposes of the said Act,” reads an order, a copy of which lies with KDC. A minor girl from Assam who had been lured to the valley on the pretext of employment in an apple processing unit was rescued and reunited with her family in Assam. The minor girl had been lured to the valley on pretext of a job with an apple processing unit. However, on reaching the location, she realised that she had been deceived and was forced to work as domestic help.
