
Centre May Ban Both Factions of Hurriyat Soon
The central government is likely to take major action against the Hurriyat Conference in the coming days.
According to a Times of India report, the government may declare all factions of Hurriyat illegal and ban them under UAPA because of their alleged involvement in financing "terrorism in Jammu Kashmir."
The Times of India quoting sources said that the Home Ministry will take a final call in the coming days on banning all factions of the Hurriyat Conference under Section 3(1) of the UAPA - including the moderate Hurriyat and Tehreek-e- Hurriyat, which was led by late leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
