10 Employees found absent: DM Shopian Around 10 Government Employees were found absent during surprise inspection of offices at Mini Secretariat Arhama Shopian today. Surprise inspection was conducted in the offices of different departments by the District Magistrate, Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya. It was also found during the inspection that few offices are not maintaining attendance and the leave account register. Meanwhile, the DM has sought explanation from the absentee employees within two days. The DM said that the surprise inspection was conducted to maintain punctuality and discipline in offices. 3 persons killed as water tanker rolls down into gorge in Kishtwar

Three persons were killed when a water tanker skidded off the road and fell into gorge in Kistwar district of Jammu on Saturday. Official sources told GNS that the accident took place at Kiru Patharnaki, resulting in on the spot death of the trio on board it. The deceased have been identified as Tariq Hussain, Arslan and ‘Janu’, all residents of Offani Padder. SHO Kishtwar Abid Bukhari told GNS that a case has been registered and investigations taken up. The name of the Government Degree College, Hyderpora was changed during a name changing ceremony presided over by the Principal of the Institution. Several local residents and senior citizens participated in the event along with the staff members of the college. Accoding to news agency Kashmir Dot Com the college has been renamed after the eminent Poet, writer, folklorist, researcher Moti Lal Saqi as per the directions of the government order. 2 women killed, minor girl injured as house collapses suddenly in Poonch

Two women were killed and a minor girl injured when a kaccha house suddenly collapsed in Poonch district on Saturday. Officials told GNS that at about 14:20 hours, one kachha house of Ashaq Hussain Son of Mohammad Sharief collapsed in village Mangnar, resulting in on spot death of two women. One of them has been identified as Zareena Akhter wife of Ashiq Hussain and another as Rahila Kouser daughter of Layaqat Hussain. A girl, Asma Kouser (8) daughter of Ashiq Hussain wad injured and shifted to District Hospital Poonch for treatment. SSP Poonch Dr Vinod Kumar confirmed the incident to GNS. Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Saturday said the number of people with high blood pressure has increased since Covid-19 pandemic. “The pandemic is causing a rise in blood pressure,” said DAK President and Influenza expert Dr Nisar ul Hassan. Quoting a study conducted on half a million adults published in the Journal Circulation, Dr Hassan said people had a significant rise in blood pressure during the pandemic year 2020 as compared to the previous year. “The study found that the blood pressure increase affected all age groups, and both men and women, although larger increases were seen in women,” he said. J&K Report 182 New Covid-19 Cases, One Death

Jammu and Kashmir reported 182 new covid-19 cases while as one person succumbed due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Saturday. 33 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and 149 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 338745. There was one death reported from the Valley due to the virus during the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4491 persons—2189 in Jammu and 2302 in Kashmir—have died due to the virus, they said.
