An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Khush Roi Kalan area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, officials said on Saturday. Sheikh Nadeem On Saturday, residents of Gori Mohalla, Achabal in south Kashmir's Anantnag district staged protest against alleged failure of Jal Shakti Department in providing potable water to the village. "We have been facing acute shortage of potable water for a very long time now which is putting us through a lot of inconvenience," the locals told The Kashmiriyat. The residents alleged that despite time to time representations, the department has done nothing to redress the issue. Later on S.H.O. Achabal, with his police team, reached the spot and assured the protestors that the issue will be conveyed to the concerned department for an early redressal. Quoting IGP, the Kashmir Police Zone on its official Twitter handle wrote, “Killed militants identified as Nadeem Bhat & Rasool @ Adil, an IED expert, affiliated with outfit AuGH. 02 AK rifles recovered.
