Around 40 percent of doctors and paramedics from different hospitals of J&K who were tested positive for Covid-19 during the third wave have resumed after recovering from the virus. Top health officials while talking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that around 2,500 doctors and paramedics working in different hospitals of J&K have been tested positive for Covid-19 since Jan 01. Reports reaching to GNS said that a male body was found by locals in river jehlum at Sempora Panthachowk who accordingly informed the police about it. The people of Waskura village of district Ganderbal complained of facing difficulties due to the poor power infrastructure in the area. Private Bank’s cash-filled ATM stolen in South Kashmir’s Qazigund

A private bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM) carrying Rs 4.5 lakh was stolen in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, official sources said. Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that some miscreants barged into the HDFC Bank ATM located near Petrol Pump in Qazigund. The burglars took away the machine along with the cash. Sources said that there was no security guard present at the ATM at the time of the incident. “There were approximately Rs 4.5 lakh in the ATM,” said a bank employee on condition of anonymity. Police have taken cognizance of the theft incident and started an investigation. (KNT)

Joint team of police and Army found 250 detonators in Shindra area of Poonch district on Saturday. Official sources said that a suspected bag was found hidden by army based in Jaranawali Gali (JWH) and police on roadside. Later BDS teams of Army and Police, from DPL Poonch, reached the spot and recovered the bags and destroyed more than 250 detonators on the spot. As ‘Chillai Kalan’, the 40-day long harshest period of winter, ends, the minimum temperature recorded a drop at most places in Kashmir Valley on Sunday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar, the summer capital of the J&K recorded a low of minus 2.3°C against last night’s minus 1.0°C on the previous night. While the ‘Chillai Kalan’, which started from December 21, ends, it is followed by a 20-day long ‘Chillai Khurd’ and a 10-day-long ‘Chilla Bachha’. An encounter has started between militants and Government forces at Chrar e Shareef area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district. A Police official said that on Saturday night 53 RR of the Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area.
