Drug Peddler, Burglar Booked Under PSA In Kupwara: Police

Authorities on Tuesday booked a drug peddler and a burglar under Public Safety Act in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. A police officer told GNS that the PSA orders were passed by the Deputy Commissioner following a dossier signed against them by SSP Kupwara. The alleged drug peddler who has been booked under the legislation has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Lone of Kawari Trehgam. Under PSA, government can detain a person without trial, in some cases upto two years. The burglar booked under the PSA has been identified as Basharat Ahmad Khan of Batpora Hyama. As per the police officer, Khan is a notorious thief and his detention under PSA along with that of Lone had become imperative to prevent them from acting detrimental to the interest of the society.
