An attendant who is by forte a doctor has lodged a complaint after a Nurse (Name Withheld) allegedly created a scene, used abusive language in a ward at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura. The Complainant has not only demanded a thorough probe into the incident but also has requested Medical Superintendent SKIMS to initiate action against the ‘foul-mouthed’ Nurse. Night temperature dropped to below freezing point in Kashmir Valley except Srinagar and Kokernag on Tuesday, officials said. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar, the summer capital of the J&K, recorded a low of 0.8°C against last night’s 1.4°C. A policeman was suspended on Monday following a complaint by the Jammu Kashmir Prisons’ Department that claimed he was smuggling a phone inside the high-security Srinagar Central Jail, officials said. The suspended policeman, selection grade Constable Mutazir Abbass of 6th battalion of the J&K Armed Police (JKAP), was caught in the act during an in-house surveillance initiated by the Prisons’ Department last month, they said. In respect of the posts withdrawn by virtue of recent decision of Administrative Council, J&K Government has ordered one-time age relaxation for candidates who had earlier applied for these posts and were eligible in terms of age but have in the meantime crossed the upper age limit. The Government also states that subject to the fulfillment of other conditions of eligibility, a candidate shall be deemed to be eligible in terms of upper age limit, if he/she applies for the said post(s) in pursuance to fresh advertisement, as and when issued by JKPSC/SSB.

Jammu Kashmir reported 245 fresh covid-19 cases, lowest daily count in 41 days, even as there was no death to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Monday. They said, 160 of the cases were reported from Jammu Division and 85 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 451016. Giving district wise details, the officials told GNS that Srinagar reported 32 cases, Baramulla 10, Budgam 12, Pulwama 2, Kupwara 16, Anantnag 2, Bandipora 4, Ganderbal 0, Kulgam 5, Shopian 2, Jammu 38, Udhampur 4, Rajouri 8, Doda 65, Kathua 2, Samba 0, Kishtwar 1, Poonch 1, Ramban 27 and Reasi 14.
