Police have arrested an absconded who along with his accomplice attacked two girls inside their house with knives at Batamaloo here on Friday. His accomplice was overpowered by the locals after one of the girls managed to break away and raise a hue and cry. He was later arrested by the police. “The second accomplice, Habil Yaseen son of Mohammad Yaseen of Dal colony, Bemina has been arrested,” a senior police officer told GNS. At least two girls were wounded after the duo held two sisters and their maternal aunt hostage in Mominabad locality in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district this afternoon. Officials told The Kashmiriyat, militants hurled a grenade at a patrol of CRPF and Police near Nishat park in the Nabripora area of Bandipora town, resulting in injuries to four government force personnel. "Four cops injured in the attack have been shifted to the hospital for treatment," they said. One of the cops identified as Zubair Ahmed (special police officer), a resident of Papchan Bandipora succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, the official said. Parts of Srinagar witnessed a shutdown on Friday on the occasion of the death anniversary of JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, who was hanged in New Delhi's Tihar Jail on this day in 1984, officials said. Shops and other business establishments were shut in some parts of the old city and Maisuma area of the city here, the officials said. However, there was no shutdown in other areas and the public transport was also plying normally in the city and elsewhere in the valley, the officials said. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), a banned organisation, had called for a shutdown on February 9 and 11 to mark the death anniversaries of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru and Bhat.
