Encounter breaks out in Nambal,Awantipora

An encounter broke out between militants and security forces at Nambal village of Awantipora hamlet in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday evening. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter. As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area. More details awaited

At least a hundred BJP activists from the Suchetgarh area along the international border in the Jammu district quit the party protesting against the Delimitation Commission proposal of merging the assembly constituency with Ranbirsingh Pora. 2 troopers sustain injuries after vehicle part of convoy skids off the road in North Kashmir

At least two troopers were injured after an army vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a pit in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The vehicle that was part of a convoy on way to Srinagar from Chowkibal met with the accident near the Taragpora area of Rafiabad Sopore. Army sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the army ALS vehicle (19D208724K) was from the Quick Reaction Team of 7 Rashtriya Rifles. They said that vehicle suffered partial damage and the two injured troopers were shifted to the hospital for treatment.
