An encounter broke out between militants and security forces at Nambal village of Awantipora hamlet in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday evening. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter. Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, shall remain open for both way traffic on Tuesday, officials said. “On 08-02-2022, subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs(passenger)/private cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar highway viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa ,” a traffic department official here told GNS, adding, “TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.” He said cut off for LMVs/private cars from Nagrota (Jammu) will be at 0700 hours to 1200 hours, from Jakheni (Udhampur) at 0800 hours to 1300 hours and from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) 0800 hours to 1300 hours “(subject to change depending on the road position then)” He said no vehicle shall be...
