At Minus 12.0°C, Gulmarg Coldest Place In Kashmir; Fresh Snowfall In Pahalgam

Barring Srinagar and Qazigund, the minimum temperature stayed below freezing point in Kashmir Valley with the famous tourist resort of Gulmarg recording a low of minus 12.0°C on Friday, officials said. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Gulmarg had 1.6mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 0830 hours today even as it recorded a low of minus 12.0°C against minus 6.0°C on the previous night, he said. The temperature was 4.4°C below normal for this time of the year in the famous resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said. CRPF trooper dies of cardiac arrest in Budgam

A central reserve police force (CRPF) trooper died of cardiac arrest at Srinagar airport on Friday morning. Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a trooper identified as Deepak Dass who was posted at E/35 Batallion CRPF, Budgam died on Friday morning after he collapsed all of a sudden while performing his duty at Drop gate of Srinagar Airport. "Trooper posted outside drop gate Srinagar airport fell unconscious and was shifted to BSF hospital RTC camp ,where doctors declared him brought dead," they said. JK reports 1982 new Covid-19 cases, lowest in 20 days

Jammu and Kashmir reported 1982 fresh covid-19 cases, lowest in 20 days, even as seven persons succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said. Official sources told GNS that 694 cases were from Jammu Division and 1288 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall infection tally to 442462. Regarding the fresh fatalities, the officials told GNS that five among them were reported from Jammu division and two from Kashmir valley. So far 4699 people have died due to the virus—2299 in Jammu and 2400 in Kashmir Valley. At least six people are feared dead in a road accident in Keshwan area of District Kishtwar.
