Srinagar-Jammu Highway closed after fresh landslides

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed for vehicular traffic due to landslides and shooting stones triggered by rains at multiple places and snow accumulated around the NAVYUG tunnel, officials said on Saturday. “Jammu-Srinagar NHW closed for vehicular movement due to landslides, shooting stones at many places on NHW, and snow accumulation around the NAVYUG Tunnel,” Jammu Kashmir Traffic police said. The highway is the lifeline of the Kashmir Valley and the main road link connecting Srinagar with Jammu. Kashmir bound trucks laden with essential supplies and other vehicles pass through the highway.

DC Anantnag chairs quarterly review meeting with Banks

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla Friday chaired the quarterly District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting with all leading banks of the district to review the progress of credit lending and activities being taken up under RSETI. 4532 undertrials lodged in Jammu Kashmir Jails, 410 detained under UAPA

As many 1442 persons are in jails of Jammu Kashmir for their involvement in drug-related crimes, official data shows. The official reveals that as of December 31, 2021, out of 4532 undertrials lodged in jails of Jammu Kashmir, 1442 are involved in drug-related crimes. Of them 1421 are males and 21 are females, the data released by J&K’s Prison department reveals. Of those involved in cases registered under” The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act – 1985”, 286 are in the age group of 18-25, 569 in the age group of 25-35, 355 in the age group of 35-45, 199 in the age group of 45-60 and 33 are beyond 60 years of age. J&K Reports 95 Fresh Covid-19 Cases, Active Tally Now Less Than 1000

Jammu and Kashmir reported 95 fresh Covid-19 cases even as there was no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Friday. They said 65 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and 30 from Kashmir Division, taking the overall tally to 452817. Giving district wise details, the officials told GNS, Srinagar reported 18 cases, Baramulla 3, Budgam 3, Pulwama 0, Kupwara 3, Anantnag 1, Bandipora 1, Ganderbal 0, Kulgam 1, Shopian 0, Jammu 27, Udhampur 0, Rajouri 2, Doda 20, Kathua 5, Samba 5, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 1, Ramban 5 and Reasi 0. Nine Killed in Israeli Airstrikes in Syria

At least nine people including Syrian troops were killed in Israeli airstrikes near the capital Damascus. According to media reports, it is the fourth time this month that Israeli strikes have been reported inside Syria. “Israeli strikes killed six people, including two Syrian troops and four fighters whose nati­onalities remain unknown,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
