300-meter portion of link road sinks in Ramban

300-meter portion of a link road in Ramban district has sunk due to incessant rains, disconnecting at least five Panchayat blocks of Gandhri from District headquarters, officials said on Friday. Official sources told GNS that the portion of Kanga-Gandhri-Bhatni road caved in late Thursday afternoon amid incessant rains. SHO Firdous Ahmed confirmed it to GNS and urged people not to move through the area as the portion is still sinking. “The people are requested not to move through the road till the restoration work is taken up,” he added. Saudi-led coalition conducts 28 Air strikes in Yemen

The Saudi-led coalition said on Wednesday it launched 28 airstrikes in Yemen's northwestern province of Hajjah in the past 24 hours. Though the immediate damage was not known. The Saudi government claimed that the strikes destroyed 14 vehicles of the Houthi rebels. The airstrikes coincided with raging battles between the forces of the government and the Houthis in several parts of the province bordering Saudi Arabia. 55-year-old man killed in hit-and-run accident in Pattan

A 55-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday. Reports reaching GNS said that a man identified as Farooq Ahmad Lone (55) son of Mohammad Ramzan Lone of Zangam Pattan was crushed to death by unknown vehicle. After the accident, the driver fled in the car from the spot. A police official confirmed to GNS the accident and said that a case has been registered in this regard. “Further investigations are underway,” he added. (GNS)

KU to re-open for offline classes from March 3; authorities notify guidelines for HODs, faculty, students

The University of Kashmir on Friday issued necessary guidelines for deans, heads of departments, faculty members and students ahead of re-opening of the varsity for offline classes from March 3, 2022. "This is for the information of all concerned that the class-work/examination in the teaching departments of the main and satellite campuses shall resume in off-line mode from 3rd March, 2022. Accordingly, all Heads/Directors/Coordinators of the teaching departments shall adhere to the necessary guidelines in letter and spirit," a notification issued by Office of Dean Academic Affairs said. Two militants and a civilian were killed in Amshipora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday, Inspector General Of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said. LG Manoj Sinha escapes unhurt in a road accident in UP

Jammu Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s car met with an accident in Varanasi town of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, media reports said. Sinha was on way to this hometown Ghazipur from Varanasi. Reports said that the car in which Sinha was traveling hit an iron pillar damaging the window of the car, however, the J&K LG escaped unhurt. The incident occurred near Rajghat bridge.
